DAY 8 LAST DAY of #untangle8angle and we're ready to finally move into #8anglepose or #astavakrasana ...and from all your great prep werk in the gallery I know ur ready !! . . If you're new to 8angle see @ashleydoddyoga for a beginners version using blocks...she's new to 8angle too, so she is sharing her fresh perspective. I'm sharing 3 different methods to enter 8 angle from seated if you can lift off the mat by pressing your palms into the mat. . . Top panel: method 1 - from SEATED with ankles crossed, either way out to the side, reach one hand btw legs and one outside your hips. Bend elbows (eyes of elbow forward) and wrap triceps establishing a strong chaturanga arms base. Press into mat lifting hips up (note thighs should be at triceps...and squeeze) and then rotate heart and gaze forward and down while squeezing tricep with thighs and extending crossed ankles away. Method 2- CHEST to mat: again start seated with crossed ankles. Set hands and chaturanga arms and lower chest and chin to mat. Press firmly into mat lifting chest and hips (think chaturanga push-ups!) and again squeeze triceps with thighs and extend out thru crossed ankles as legs lift off mat. I really like coming up from chest to mat because ur nice and square and all set up...u just need to press the mat away! . . Bottom panel: method 3 TRADITIONAL entry from elephant trunk. Note here you will want non elephant ankle hooked OVER elephant leg ankle. Hand placement and arms and the rotation of chest forward and legs extended is the same as in methods 1 & 2.
